This past weekend saw the Nomads FSP Coaches Workshop for 2019 take place at King David Mowbray Golf Club.
The two-day event was an opportunity to reflect on the past year of the FSP and lay the groundwork to ensure the Program continues to grow in 2019. To this end, facilitator Donny Jurgens asked the coaches to jot down the successes they have enjoyed with their schools and the challenges that hinder growth.
A notable recent success story was the opening of the First Swing Program at the TransOranje school in Pretoria. The coaches have been impressed by the depth of talent among the children and Dale Hayes Golf Academy coach Justin Godfrey has been charged with cultivating this potential in the coming year.
Operations Manager Lily Reich expressed her gratitude to the coaches for their attendance and felt the workshop was most worthwhile.
“It was amazing once again to hear the coaches speak with such passion about the work that they do with our FSP children. We truly value their input and the quality suggestions that were made about how to take the Program to the next level,” remarked Reich.
“Thanks must go to all the coaches for taking the time to be a part of the workshop. Thanks too to Donny Jurgens Development Services TA Dynamic Development Solutions for once again facilitating such a stimulating and productive workshop. Finally, to Carmen Oostenbrink for the fantastic job she does as our interpreter and for ensuring that our deaf coaches are able to share their thoughts and ideas with us.”
The weekend drew to a close with our FSP coaches teeing it up in the Western Province provincial day at Milnerton Golf Club. The prize-giving was an opportunity to acknowledge our up and coming FSP coaches as Ignation Douries, Raylen De Wee and Marchello Koopman were presented with their PGA Grow Golf Coaches Certificates by our beloved patron Oom Kulk.
Thank you must go to Nomads for sponsoring the event.
It’s the contributions of such organisations that make events such as these possible. Thank you to King David Mowbray Golf Club for hosting the event and for positively impacting disabled golf in the Western Cape. To Volkswagen Group South Africa for continuing to mobilise our organisation and ensuring our members get to where they need to be safely.
