The first Western Province Provincial Day of 2019 was held at Milnerton Golf Club on Sunday. Fortunately the stiff sea-breeze that is synonymous with the links track stayed away and the field took full advantage.
Trevor Reich claimed top-spot in the disabled category thanks to a stellar round of 74 which earned him 39 points and a slender one-point victory over Brandon Shaw. Reich’s impressive display couldn’t have come at a better time as he gears up for the Provincial Challenge at Magalies Park Golf Club next month.
In the deaf category, Charles Williams strolled to a six-point victory over fellow FSP Elite-squad member Daren Hanekom after carding a 77 for 38 points.
The day was made special by the presence of all the FSP coaches from around the country. It was certainly a case of the older generation showing the youngsters a thing or two as Graeme Whale (38 points) and SADGA patron Oom Kulk (35 points) were the best golfers among the abled contingent.
The prize-giving was an opportunity to acknowledge our up and coming FSP coaches as Ignation Douries, Raylen De Wee and Marchello Koopman were presented with their PGA Grow Golf Coaches Certificates by Oom Kulk.
Andre Du Ploy was also welcomed as the newest member of our ever-expanding association. We hope you enjoyed yourself Andre and hope to see a lot more of you at future Provincial Days.
Our thanks to Milnerton Golf Club for their great hospitality and continued support of the SADGA. Thanks to Western Province Golf for their unwavering support of the SADGA provincial days.
