The Western Province Provincial day was held at the beautiful Stellenbosch Golf Club on Sunday. The golfers could not have asked for a better day with hardly a breath of wind and a golf course that was in great condition.
Morne Cronje made best use of the benign conditions, picking the course apart by using his 4-iron off most tees to great effect en route to an impressive 7-over 79 that could have been even better were it not for a double-bogey at his final hole. Despite this, the 39 points Morne earned proved enough to secure top honours on the day.
The FSP squad played an integral role in ensuring a well-run and fun day for all. Charles Williams did a fantastic job as the emcee of the prize-giving, leading a minute’s silence in memory of the late Ben Van Zyl as well as welcoming Neil Palmer to the SADGA. Our thanks to Stellenbosch Golf Club for their great hospitality and support of the SADGA. Thanks to the City of Cape Town for the donation of equipment for our FSP members and to the Western Province Golf Union for their continued support of the SADGA provincial days.
