62 year old Vennita Wirth had a stroke 7 years ago which caused her one side of her body to be affected. She started playing golf a year later at her home club of Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate and currently plays off a 28 handicap. Her Tuesdays are spent with her golf therapist,Anna Becker and Friday afternoons she is on the course playing golf.
This will be Vennita’s 4th Open.
The family has owned Nooitgedacht Wine Estate farm since 1923 and Vennita is the matriarch of the family run business and has an eye on anything and everything that takes place.
Her hobbies are cooking and she is the mother of 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Joining Vennita is her aide and friend , Vumba who has worked for Vennita for the past 3 years and had to learn the golf rules and etiquette very quickly so that she could caddie at the tournaments.
Vennita has a heart of gold and is an inspiration to not only her fellow golfers, children and grandchildren but also to every person she meets.
