Nico started playing golf in 1992, a year after losing his arm in his matric year in a farming accident.
Nico has not missed any of the SA Opens that have taken place in the Gauteng area and has only missed the tournaments which have taken place in Cape Town. He is a regular at the local Provincial Days and brings his abled bodied friends to compete.
Prior to the SADGA being formed Nico belonged to the One Armed Disabled Golf Society which had their first Open in 1994 in Scottsburgh, KZN before it became registered as SADGA ?
Nico has been married to Astrid for 17 years and spends most of his free time when not on the Golf Course lifting and looking after his 3 girls (ages 8,11,15).
Nico is currently a 15 handicap and is looking forward to the camaraderie & competition of the Canon SA Disabled Golf Open.
