Daren was in an accident at the age of 3 where he lost his hearing
Daren is a King David Mowbray Golf Club member and is a great sportsman and mentor to the children that he coaches in the First Swing Program. He is currently an 8 handicap and is striving for the winning trophy in the Deaf division.
Showing an interest in photography led Dana Eitzen from Canon South Africa to sponsor him with a camera to learn photography. He is currently our SADGA photographer and covers all the FSP events and Provincials.
He completed his Grow Golf Coaches course and is busy with his Professional Golfers Association of South Africa coaching certificate which he should have in the next 3 years.
He lives with his partner, Nadia , and has a 1 year old son, Caden, who he hopes will one day follow in his footsteps.
He has a great sense of humour and he loves to cook. He will be the official chef taking care of the FSP during the tournament. Pop into his chalet for a taste.
Daren enjoys watching rugby and soccer and is also a qualified WP Rugby Referee (deaf and hearing).
We all welcome Daren Hanekom to the Canon South Africa Disabled Golf Open
