SADGA FSP Elite squad member Simo Mduduu shot a very encouraging 91 at Rondebosch Golf Club on Friday.
Beginning on Rondebosch’s par-4 opening hole, Mdudu made the perfect start to his round with back-to-back pars which earned him six early stableford points. This was the start of a faultless outward nine for Simo who putted extremely well en route to a handy opening nine of 43 and 20 stableford points.
After a disappointing one-pointer at his tenth hole of the day, Mdudu bounced back with three consecutive two-pointers to maintain the momentum on his promising round. After 13 fantastic holes, Simo’s round suffered a disappointing end. Five points over his final five holes meant Mdudu signed for 12 points over his closing nine holes.
Mdudu pointed to better focus and improved course management as the keys to his bright start.
“I was thinking throughout my round and noticed a definite improvement in my course management,” said Mdudu.
Going forward, Mdudu believes that remaining focused throughout his round will ultimately lead to better golf.
“I managed to start well but I must make sure that I finish with the same mindset and focus that I begin the round with. This will help me play better golf every time I play.”
Playing alongside Mdudu was fellow Elite squad member Charles Williams and SADGA Executive Director Craig Moorgas. Williams carded an 82 for 31 points while Moorgas’ round of 96 earned him 28 stableford points.
Thank you very much to Rondebosch Golf Club for offering our golfers a free round – the SADGA appreciates the gesture and our players thoroughly enjoyed their day out on the quality layout.
