We were delighted to be joined by our Board of Directors for a fun-filled game of Better-ball stableford at King David Mowbray Golf Club on Tuesday.
Though some rain in the hours leading up to the round threatened to put a dampener on the day, it stayed away for the most part and allowed everyone to enjoy themselves while playing some high-quality golf.
Players were divided into two-man teams and played off scrambled-drives before using the better-ball stableford score on each hole toward their overall tally.
In the first four-ball out, the team of Craig Moorgas and Christo “Oupa” De Jager played steady golf over the opening nine-holes as they posted 20 points. This helped them turn one-point better than playing partners Pieter Verwey and Alan Locketz. On the inward nine, Verwey and Locketz carded 20 points to Moorgas and De Jager’s 19 finish tied on 39 points.
Ultimately, their respective scores paled in comparison to the sublime effort of FSP Elite squad golfer Daren Hanekom and SADGA Chairman Enver Hassen. The pair recorded an astonishing eight three-pointers over the opening nine en route to an incredible tally of 26 points.
If there’s one thing to be gleaned from their opening nine it was the benefit of long, accurate drives- something which both players provided with regularity. On the second nine, a disappointing one-pointer at their penultimate hole was the only blemish on an otherwise exceptional scorecard as they came home in 24 points to comfortably post the low-score of the day.
After the round, a fun-filled day was capped off by the players being treated to some delicious pizzas provided by the King David Mowbray Golf Club staff.
Many thanks to all who participated and contributed to such a great day.
