30 January 2024: In another innovative move ahead of the All Abilities Golf Tour’s inaugural season, the South African Disabled Golf Association has announced an exciting partnership with live-scoring platform Golfbox which will help bring golf for the disabled supporters closer to the action than ever before.
Empowering South African golfers with a disability through an increase in playing opportunities is the cornerstone on which the AAGT is built. Equally important is the empowerment of all those who have leant their support to the SADGA through the years and Golfbox will enable them to keep tabs on family, friends or perhaps even a player they have sponsored in some way.
SADGA Business Development & Sponsorship Manager David Watts remarked that the advent of live-scoring at the All Abilities Golf Tour tournaments is integral to training more eyeballs on the wonderful AAGT product from the outset.
“Given the instantaneous age in which we live, it’s imperative that we provide SADGA members, sponsors and supporters with a quick and easy way to follow all of the All Abilities Golf Tour action and the use of the Golfbox live-scoring system is central to this,” Watts explained.
“We are thrilled that Golfbox has bought into the vision we have for the AAGT this year and know that their presence at our tournaments will go a long way to training eyeballs on the Tour from the outset which is fantastic.”
Watts also revealed that Golfbox will be providing their service at no charge, remarking that the kind gesture is greatly appreciated by all members of the SADGA, many of whom will have their names and scores posted online for the first time.
“The live-scoring system will add tremendous legitimacy to our events and our golfers will now have their names and scores posted online for the first time which will be an exciting, novel experience indeed.
“Everyone at the SADGA is grateful to be taking such a significant step towards aligning our Tournament offering with that of other amateur golf entities and the professional game for that matter,” Watts concluded..
The All Abilities Golf Tour season begins with the Country Club Johannesburg Disabled Open on the 26th and 27th of February.
