Bosman Through To Windhoek International Pairs National Final

Congratulations to leg-amputee Francois Bosman who earned a spot in the National final of the Windhoek International Pairs competition. This is how the regional final panned out in Bossie’s own words.
In 2019 me and one of my big mates Freddie Kamfer entered the Windhoek lager international pairs comp at our local club Kuilsriver. We won that day with 43 stableford points that secured our spot in the regional knock-out. Well then covid struck in 2020 which meant that the regionals could only be played after all the lockdown restrictions were lifted. The regional knock-out was played this past weekend at Bellville Golf Club. After I got over the shock of playing from a 8 and my partner from a 9 handicap(75% of your lowest index of the year past). We started on the 10th tee and got on a roll quickly, carding 22 points on Bellville’s back-nine with my partner shooting 38 and a 43 for me with Freddie making a brilliant birdie on 18.
We were the clubhouse leaders after 9 holes. Then golf kicked in and we were struggling to make points on the from nine with both of us blowing out on the 2nd hole. We managed to try and keep things together and we had 13 points with one hole to go. I hit a beautiful 8-iron in from 134m, missed the birdie putt and made par which gave us 38 points in total. We were tied 1st till almost the end when another pairing made 39 points which meant that we were going to have to play the 18th in a sudden-death playoff for 2nd place seeing that only the 1st and 2nd place pairs qualify to go to Windhoek (for the National Final).
We ended up playing in a 3 way play off all on 38 points and managed to secure the win, come in second place and have now qualified for the national event and maybe just maybe have a chance to go to Portugal…
The final will be held on the 2-5 June.. Hold thumbs and let’s see what happens.
