The South African Disabled Golf Association is thrilled to announce the launch of its groundbreaking new All Abilities Golf Tour which is set for a bumper inaugural season in 2024.
The brainchild of SADGA Business Development & Sponsorship Manager David Watts, the AAGT will feature no fewer than 10 events in 2024 and offer South African golfers with a disability a fantastic opportunity to play much more competitive golf and earn valuable WR4GD (World Ranking For Golfers With A Disability) points.
The schedule will traverse much of the country with events set to be staged in Boland, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape.
Watts remarked that the AAGT will help nurture the considerable talent within the country and help develop well-rounded players.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the SADGA and the establishment of the All Abilities Golf Tour will play a key role in increasing the depth of talent within South Africa,” said Watts.
“I can attest to the fantastic experience one gains from playing abroad and it is my sincere hope that by having many more opportunities to accumulate WR4GD points my fellow members will be able to enjoy similar experiences to those I’ve been fortunate to have.”
Watts thanked the SADGA Board of Directors for believing in his vision, saying the establishment of the AAGT will train many more eyes the world over on golf for the disabled in South Africa.
“I’m appreciative that the SADGA Board of Directors has bought into the vision I have for the AAGT and believe it will help raise the profile of the SADGA globally with many eyeballs on and hopefully participants in the AAGT.”
To better equip the homegrown contingent for the challenges of competing on the international stage,Player Development meetings will also precede each tournament where players will gain a deeper understanding of the rules of golf, how to deal with the media among a variety of other topics which Watts feels will ultimately mould well-rounded players.
“The Player Development meetings will offer a great opportunity to develop and refine on and off-course skills which will make them not just better players on the course but terrific ambassadors for the association off of it which will go a long way to enhancing the quality of our product in the eyes of potential sponsors and members.”
The full schedule of the inaugural season of the All Abilities Golf Tour will be announced in due course.
